Riot Games almost made a League of Legends MMORPG, but started all over again

Must Read

Riot Games has been trying to expand the League of Legends universe with additional games for several years now, including even a full-fledged MMO. Things somehow aren’t going well with her: the project was completely restarted.

League of Legends

The game was announced at the end of 2020. Since then, the authors have made serious progress in development, and then realized that they had a typical MMORPG. And we decided to do it all over again.

“It seems like you don’t need an MMO that you’ve already played, even if it’s in the Runeterra universe. We want to meet players’ expectations and realize the full potential of our world, so we have to demonstrate the evolution of the genre. This is a very tough challenge, but one of our teams loves MMOs and is ready to pursue this goal,” said Riot Games co-founder Mark Merrill.

Of course, it’s very early to talk about a release date. Riot Games reported on personnel changes, and the refreshed team some time ago began to lay the foundation for the future game.
