Gamers come to Metacritic for average game scores. However, the site’s editors not only copy and paste other people’s reviews—from time to time they publish their own materials and selections. The other day, for example, the portal released a rating of publishing houses for 2023.
The article included space for 46 different companies, and their place on the list depended on the ratings of the titles they released. So, who made it to the top?
- Capcom – 325.7 Metacritic score (best game: Resident Evil 4)
- Raw Fury – 318.6 (Cassette Beasts)
- Chorus Worldwide – 318.5 (A Space for the Unbound)
- DANGEN Entertainment – 316.4 (The Last Spell)
- Annapurna Interactive – 313.6 (Cocoon)
- Nintendo – 312.1 (The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom)
- Aksys Games – 310.2 (Jack Jeanne)
- Bethesda Softworks – 308.3 (Hi-Fi RUSH)
- SEGA – 306.1 (Persona 4 Golden)
- Thunderful – 303.3 (Worldless)
Symbolically, Sony and Microsoft did not make it into the top ten – they took 13th and 15th positions, respectively. Ironic, considering that the PlayStation owner previously topped the rankings. In past years, let us remind you that the following performed best:
- 2022 – Sony
- 2021 – Microsoft
- 2020 – SEGA
- 2019 – 505 Games
- 2018 – Capcom
- 2017 – Bethesda Softworks
- 2016 – Electronic Arts
- 2015 – SEGA
- 2014 – Nintendo
- 2013 – Take-Two Interactive
- 2012 – Electronic Arts
- 2011 – Microsoft
- 2010 – Take-Two Interactive
