Game company executive sentenced to death in China
Xiu Yao, 43, was sentenced to death for poisoning company founder Lin Qi in December 2020. The court found that he put poison in the food of Lin Qi, who died 10 days later. He also poisoned drinks in the office, targeting two colleagues with whom he also had disagreements. He acted intentionally and endangered public safety.

Lin Qi founded Yoozoo – also known as Youzu Interactive – in 2009 and became one of his country’s richest entrepreneurs. His fortune was estimated at approximately 6.8 billion yuan at the time of his death.

The company also owns the film rights to the Three-Body trilogy, a best-selling Chinese science fiction novel, and Xu Yao was the head of the subsidiary responsible for related business.
