In many partially online games, players have to figure out how to interact with other gamers without chat. In the Dark Souls series, players left messages, and in Dragon’s Dogma 2, this role was assigned to rotten food.
Pawns, who are assistants in Dragon’s Dogma 2, can become infected with the Dragon Plague while traveling – this can be noticed by their glowing red eyes and changes in behavior. If such a partner is not cured or killed, they may attack the player or even slaughter entire cities with important NPCs.
Many players prefer to get rid of an infected pawn by simply dismissing them from the squad. However, such a partner can later be picked up by other players. To warn gamers about the danger, fans of Dragon’s Dogma 2 came up with an unusual method: they put rotten food or dried flowers in the inventory of an infected pawn. Therefore, when recruiting, the next player will be able to examine the inventory and realize that something is wrong with the pawn.
It’s worth noting that Dragon’s Dogma 2 was released on March 22 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Despite criticism from gamers, the game sold more than 2.5 million copies in just 11 days after its release.
