Russian material is used to build a fusion reactor

Must Read

Russia and South Korea will begin negotiations on joint work on the first wall of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER). It is alleged that the material provided by Russia made a huge impression on foreign colleagues.

Specialists from Russia and South Korea will soon begin testing an innovative Russian material intended for one of the walls of the first thermonuclear reactor in history. Its construction is being carried out by the international community in France. The material of the first wall must meet seven requirements, including heat resistance, strength, thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity.

“We are making samples of the material and are in the process of signing a contract with the international organization ITER to conduct research on these materials. We plan to begin discussing the specifics of conducting research with specialists from South Korea in the near future,” the statement says.

ITER is the first thermonuclear experimental reactor in history, being built in France through the efforts of several countries. The development is intended to demonstrate the possibility of synthesizing thermonuclear energy for peaceful purposes. The project is based on tokamak technology, or a toroidal chamber with magnetic coils, created in the 50s of the last century by Soviet academicians Igor Tamm and Andrei Sakharov.
