Insiders #3600: RTX 5000 “Shortage,” SanDisk Video Memory Up to 4TB, and HarmonyOS NEXT Smartphones

Must Read

In this edition of Insiders: NVIDIA is allegedly creating an artificial shortage of RTX 5000 GPUs; SanDisk has announced video card memory with a capacity of up to 4TB; and HUAWEI is set to introduce the first smartphone in a new form factor based on HarmonyOS NEXT.

NVIDIA Allegedly Creating an Artificial Shortage of RTX 5000

An insider posted on Weibo, claiming that NVIDIA is deliberately creating a shortage of GeForce RTX 5000 series GPUs as a marketing strategy. According to the insider, in reality, there is no actual shortage.

Additionally, an insider with the nickname harukaze571 stated that full-scale deliveries could begin in April or May. It is speculated that during these months, the company may ease supply restrictions, believing that consumer interest has been sufficiently “warmed up.”

SanDisk Announces Video Card Memory With a Capacity of Up to 4TB

SanDisk has unveiled a new type of industrial video card memory called High Bandwidth Flash (HBF). This standard combines the bandwidth of HBM (High Bandwidth Memory) but replaces DRAM with NAND chips. In simple terms, HBF functions like SSD-based video memory.

The new solution is comparable in price to HBM but offers 8 to 16 times greater capacity—up to 4TB.

SanDisk achieved this by developing a proprietary memory packaging technology, allowing the company to stack 16 layers of 3D NAND memory on top of a logic control layer. While flash memory cannot fully replace DRAM, it is intended for running AI models rather than training them.

HUAWEI to Unveil First Smartphone in a New Form Factor Based on HarmonyOS NEXT

HUAWEI Chairman Richard Yu announced that the company will soon introduce its first smartphone in a “new form factor” designed specifically for HarmonyOS with built-in AI capabilities (likely an offline version). Yu also stated that the smartphone will be a “breakthrough” innovation.

Insiders speculate that this device could be the Pocket 3 clamshell, making it the first smartphone to run exclusively on HarmonyOS NEXT.
