Microsoft has released an optional update KB5035942 for Windows 11. It includes several innovations that will become generally available after the release of a major April patch. The Bleepingcomputer portal has already tested the current update and told us what it adds to the desktop OS.
The KB5035942 package can be installed manually through the Update Center. It adds Copilot virtual assistant functionality to computers without a Microsoft account (up to 10 requests), an updated lock screen, Clipchamp video editor with AI features, new built-in gallery capabilities, additional window snapping templates for multitasking, and an improved voice recognition algorithm.
Additionally, installing KB5035942 fixes several known bugs. Now the Settings application does not freeze when removing Bluetooth devices, and USB audio devices do not crash, regardless of the CPU model (previously, this error was noticed on PCs with some processors).
At the same time, problems with disappearing applications and OS functions, as well as with “truncated” application names in the taskbar, were fixed. Innovations for business users include a new authorization method: if you log in to a laptop or PC issued by your employer, the system automatically logs into the Windows 365 cloud computer.
