Google’s new search function appears to be glitching. We are talking about the Search Generative Experience (SGE) AI search algorithm, which is responsible not only for issuing answers to the user’s request, but also generating a summary of sites with answers, and also giving recommendations for visiting certain resources.
As a result, this function was suspected of redirecting to fraudulent sites by SEO specialist Lily Ray. According to her, SGE deliberately responds with links to fake iPhone giveaways, shady sales, and portals offering malicious links for the Chrome browser.
In turn, experts from the BleepingComputer portal, who paid attention to Rae’s messages, found that sites promoted by SGE, as a rule, use the .online top-level domain, as well as only HTML templates.
According to analysts, these similarities indicate that all these domains are part of the same SEO campaign that allowed them to get into Google’s index. When clicking on a site like this in Google search results, visitors will be taken through a series of redirects until they land on the scam site.
