Recently in Rajya Sabha Ministry of Health across the country in the last 8 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi MBBS And informed about the huge increase in PG seats. According to the ministry, there were 51,348 MBBS seats available in the country in 2014, which has increased by almost 90% to 96,077 in 2022-2023. Similarly, Medical PG Seats 105% increase from 31,185 in 2014 to 64,059 by 2022-2023. The number of medical colleges in the country has increased from 387 in 2014 to 648 by 2022 and the number of AIIMS has also increased from 7 in 2014 to 22 by 2022. Additional 9 more AIIMS will be available by 2024-25.
The Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken several steps towards the development of medical infrastructure in the state of Telangana. Rs 800 crore has been allocated for the establishment and construction works of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Bibi Nagar near Hyderabad at a cost of Rs 1,028 crore.
● 1,032 crore has been allocated for the construction of a new OPD block and upgraded medical facilities at ESIC Hospital, Sanath Nagar.
● Rs 240 crore for construction of new blocks and advanced medical facilities in government hospitals in Adilabad, Warangal
● Rs 902 crore allocated for setting up 4,549 health and wellness centers in rural areas and township dispensaries in urban areas of Telangana state under the Ayushman Bharat scheme
, 30 crore has been allocated for setting up a regional center of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) for the southern region.
● 50 oxygen plants set up across the state with funding from PMCARES
● 31.2 lakh toilets constructed across Telangana state under Swachh Bharat program for Rs 3,744 crore
Several steps were taken to strengthen the infrastructure
The ministry said in the Rajya Sabha that during the last eight and a half years, the Government of India under the leadership of Narendra Modi has taken several measures towards strengthening the medical infrastructure in the country. This has brought transformational changes in all areas related to health. The government is determined to provide state-of-the-art quality medical facilities at affordable prices to the common people. As a part of this, the Narendra Modi government is working to strengthen 6 areas, such as strengthening health infrastructure, providing affordable medicines, ensuring access to vaccines, access to medical education for candidates, AYUSH and the development of indigenous knowledge systems such as yoga, and proactive steps through the construction of household toilets.
Oxygen plants installed
Giving information, the ministry said that keeping in view the demand of oxygen during Kovid-19, 50 oxygen plants have been set up in various government hospitals across the state through the PM Cares Fund. As part of the Swachh Bharat programme, 31.2 lakh toilets have been constructed in the state of Telangana at a cost of Rs 3,744 crore.
The goal of the Narendra Modi government has been to establish a medical college in every district. Former Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare J.P. Nadda and Dr. Harsh Vardhan have in the past met Telangana Chief Minister K.K. Chandrasekhar Rao and other officials of the state government and requested them to send proposals for the establishment. Medical Colleges in Telangana State as per prescribed norms and guidelines Unfortunately, there has been no response from the Government of Telangana.
The Narendra Modi government will continue to work towards the development of infrastructure in the health sector in the state of Telangana through various such measures.
