The United Nations Security Council recently convened an emergency meeting regarding North Korea’s intercontinental ballistic missile launch. Now the powerful sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has targeted the United Nations Security Council for this meeting and accused it of adopting a double standard.

North Korea once again successfully launched an ICBM on November 17, which fell about 125 miles off the coast of Japan. It is being said that it is capable of targeting the whole of North America. Kim Jong Un’s sister, Yo Jong accused the UNSC of turning a blind eye to South Korea’s very dangerous military drills. Along with this, he also targeted America and vented his anger about its destructive weapons.

Yo Jong also compared America to a dog barking out of fear. He said, there is a dog which is barking out of fear. Apart from this, he accused America of pushing the Korean Peninsula towards a new crisis.

India had condemned North Korea for ballistic missile launch

Let us tell you, earlier in an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), India had condemned North Korea for its intercontinental ballistic missile launch. Expressing concern over the proliferation of nuclear and missile technologies, India said that it has an adverse impact on the peace and security of the region. North Korea had once again successfully launched an ICBM on November 17, which fell about 125 miles off the coast of Japan. It is being said that it is capable of targeting the whole of North America.

India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ruchira Kamboj said that India condemns the recent intercontinental ballistic missile launch by North Korea.

Kamboj said that India calls for the full implementation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions relating to North Korea.

“We reiterate the need to address the proliferation of nuclear and missile technologies belonging to North Korea,” he said. The proliferation of nuclear and missile technologies is a matter of concern as it has adverse implications for the peace and security of the region including India.

Kamboj said that India hopes that the international community and the Security Council will show solidarity on this front. India reiterates its support for nuclear disarmament in the direction of peace and security in the Korean Peninsula.

At the meeting, the US and its allies on Monday strongly condemned North Korea’s intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) test and called on it to limit its nuclear and missile programs. However, Russia and China opposed the efforts to put more pressure on Pyongyang and impose new sanctions. After the meeting, US Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield read a statement on behalf of the eight council members – Albania, France, Ireland, India, Norway, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as South Korea, Japan and four other countries.
