Samples have been taken from there, on the basis of which further action will be taken.

The Health Minister has said that the samples taken from the company’s site have been sent to the Regional Drug Testing Laboratory, Chandigarh for testing.

According to information received from sources, two officers of Uttar Pradesh Drug Controlling and Licensing Authority and CDSCO were part of this investigation team. On the night of 27th December itself, the team had inspected Noida’s Marion Biotech and collected samples of cough syrup DOC-1 MAX kept there for examination. The UP Drug Controlling Authority has also formed a separate team for this, which will check whether all the rules are being followed for making the drug in Marion Biotech. Along with this, it is also being investigated whether there is ethylene glycol in this cough syrup or not. If ethylene glycol is found in excess, strict action will be taken against the company.

18 children have died in Uzbekistan

A case of death of 18 children has come to light after drinking the syrup made in Noida’s Merian Biotech. The Uzbekistan government has said that the amount of ethylene glycol in the cough syrup was very high, due to which the children died. Union Health Minister has said that the team of Drug Regulatory Authority has visited the company. If any deficiency is found in the sample of cough syrup, then action will be taken against the company making the syrup.

Ethylene glycol is a carbon compound. It is added to sweeten cough syrup. If there is an excessive amount of it in the syrup, then it can also become fatal. Because there is a risk of kidney damage due to its use. According to doctors, ethylene glycol directly affects kidney function. This causes kidney failure which causes death.
